Doing something back to front is just doing it the wrong way around. Some people spend lots of hard earned money on their appearance outside while their appearance inside remains the same. This is doing it back to front.

 It is just like baking a cake. No point in having the inside all soggy and wet even if it looks like the picture on the outside. People who eat it will just be disappointed.

So back to the Botox. We yearn for external beauty preening and pruning and waxing and zapping everything we feel that is out of place. Alone we stand uncomfortable and awkward and now we finally look how we should. Well for now anyway and then a while later we need to do it all again.

Now let us imagine if we did it the other way around. Think of real people that you know. Think of who you are drawn to. Who has a beauty not dictated purely by pencil or boutique. When you, like them, go to work within, it comes out. When you are truly happy inside it shows. When you love yourself people tell you that you look well.

When you truly embrace who you are warts and all, you develop an inner glow. Your skin looks better, your eyes are brighter and you start to feel at home in your body. Then you begin to believe in yourself.

Then the strangest thing happens. Your appearance starts to subtly change. Your face shows a collage of all that has happened to you mixed with emotions and love. People see it when they meet you and are drawn to its reality. A bitter hard face is easy to pass but a compassionate smiling one is difficult to ignore. Working on the external body requires a great deal of time, discipline and cash.

Working on the inner soul requires love. Love then gives you beauty. Beauty is what we all crave in one way or another. Now having said all that I no less than any other woman, have packets and bags full of wonder lotions and treatments that I want to believe will shatter the onset of ageing and retain an appealing veneer. Deep down I know though that the days when I get the compliments are the days that I have slept, smiled and showered and the days that I am ignored I could be wearing the best make up and think that I look great.
